Biography

Trained in Wildlife Illustration at Carmarthen, West Wales, Roz worked for many years with British Wildlife parks, zoos and charities including the RSPCA, Whipsnade, Howletts and Port Lympne, providing educational and exhibition material on the zoos’ animals and their behaviour. During research for this work Roz was able to get very close to several species, particularly the gorillas at the John Aspinall zoos, this gave her a special insight into the peaceful nature of this gentle species.
Apes were the focus of the two-year MA course in sequential imagery Roz studied at Brighton University - working with multimedia slide projection equipment she created slideshows which explored further our stereotypical attitudes to chimps and gorillas particularly in captive situations.
Roz has exhibited twice with the Society of Wildlife artists and is showing with the Marwell International Wildlife Art Society for the first time this year. Please see Exhibition Menu for more details and other up to date event info.
Roz has 22 years’ experience in teaching in further education and runs classes of small groups of students of all ages at her studio, covering subjects such as general drawing and painting (teaching people to draw is a particular focus) and natural history - wildlife and botanical art.
